This week, the life of Josephine “Joey” Gay, a victim of the Newtown tragedy who had autism, was celebrated when a new playground in Bridgeport, CT, was dedicated in her honor. A new project called “Where Angels Play” is helping to build 26 playgrounds, including Joey’s, for each of the 26 Newtown victims in different parts of Connecticut affected by Superstorm Sandy.
Joey’s playground was opened on her birthday, December 11, and is adorned with “Autism Speaks” puzzle pieces in the hopes of spreading autism awareness. Joey’s parents, Michele and Bob Gay, are thrilled that this project has been done in celebration of their daughter.
